Industrial Design Co-op (Consumer Products)

Location: Needham, Massachusetts, United States; full-time, 40 hours per week, five days per week onsite. Work period: January 2027 through June 2027. No relocation or housing assistance.

What you will do

• Support Industrial Design and CMF leads on product launches from brainstorming through market.
• Translate consumer insights into user-centered product designs that balance function and emotional impact.
• Create sketches, illustrations, high-fidelity renderings, presentation visuals, and storytelling assets.
• Build visual and functional prototypes to test concepts and explore emerging materials, trends, and aesthetics.
• Collaborate with Engineering on clean, production-ready CAD files and contribute to manufacturing-ready product development.
• Define product appearance, including surface finishes, color, material, texture, branding, and design language.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a related bachelor's or master's program, or graduation from such a program within the past year.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, five days per week onsite in Needham, Massachusetts.
• Confident and precise product design using SolidWorks or Rhino.
• High-quality 3D rendering using tools such as KeyShot.
• Meticulous attention to detail under tight deadlines and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with focus and flexibility.
• Familiarity with mechanical engineering and part design.
• Analytical and creative approach to proposing innovative, real-world solutions.
• Original portfolio demonstrating a product development process.
• Collaborative approach, positive participation in brainstorms, critiques, and prototypes, and curiosity about design, materials, and user experience.
