Innovation Designer (Industrial Design)

Location: Mason Bus and Innovation Center, United States; onsite role.

Salary: $92,000–$116,500 per year, plus potential bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Translate consumer insights, market opportunities, business objectives, and emerging trends into design strategies and product experiences.
• Lead design workstreams and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, internal partners, and external design agencies.
• Develop concepts from sketching through CAD, rendering, prototyping, and refinement.
• Lead hands-on prototyping using 3D printing, fabrication, model making, and rapid iteration.
• Partner with R&D, Product Supply, Manufacturing, and suppliers to develop functional, manufacturable prototypes.
• Apply experimentation and learning cycles to reduce development risk and improve consumer solutions.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of full-time industrial design work experience.
• BA/BS in Industrial Design or a similar field.
• Portfolio demonstrating industrial design mastery, including technical proficiency, creative excellence, design thinking, storytelling, problem solving, rapid iteration, aesthetics, form development, ergonomics, and understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Mastery of industrial design skills, including sketching, CAD modeling with parametric solids, surfacing and advanced patterning, and product rendering.
• Experience with SolidWorks, Fusion, Rhino, Adobe Suite, design research and research data analysis, and product photography.
• Experience with controllable generative AI image creation using Adobe Suite/Firefly, ComfyUI, or Vizcom.
• Fabrication experience, including SLA and FDM 3D printing and basic shop tools.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, leadership, project management, and time management skills, including the ability to lead multiple high-complexity projects simultaneously and communicate a strategic design vision to partners at different levels.
• Curiosity, resilience, openness to feedback and coaching, and the ability to learn from successes and failures.
