Senior Staff Data Engineer (FinOps)

Salary: $145,600–$209,300 base pay annually, with potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and implementation of the Unified FinOps Data Platform across AWS and GCP.
• Build scalable, cloud-native data products and enterprise-grade pipelines for billing, usage, telemetry, cost allocation, chargeback, showback, unit economics, and financial reporting.
• Develop near-real-time ingestion and processing capabilities and automate reconciliation between cloud provider invoices and financial reporting systems.
• Enable forecasting, planning, anomaly detection, intelligent optimization, and decision automation for the AskFinOps AI platform.
• Establish data standards, governance, quality monitoring, lineage, observability, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and platform reliability practices.
• Collaborate with FinOps, Finance, Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Data teams; mentor engineers and drive adoption of self-service reporting.

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience designing large-scale, cloud-native data platforms.
• Strong expertise in AWS and/or GCP data ecosystems.
• Advanced SQL and Python development experience.
• Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or similar modern data platforms.
• Expertise building ETL and ELT pipelines and using data orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud automation.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting AI, ML, or generative AI data platforms and solutions.
• Experience working with financial, billing, usage, or operational analytics datasets, plus strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with FinOps, cloud cost management, or cloud financial governance.
• Experience with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar DevOps tools.
• Experience with Vertex AI or similar AI platforms, generative AI tools, and AI-enabled analytics platforms.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
