Principal Equipment Engineer - Cleans

Location: Fully onsite at Fab 9 in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States. Monday–Friday daytime schedule; occasional nights and weekends may be required. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Salary: $85,000–$146,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own and maintain Cleans manufacturing equipment, spending most of the time on the cleanroom floor troubleshooting equipment downtime and supporting complex maintenance recoveries.
• Lead structured problem solving to identify root causes of equipment failures and improve tool availability.
• Mentor equipment engineers, expand maintenance team capabilities, document procedures, and provide technical leadership.
• Coordinate tool status and planned maintenance for capacity, including tool installations, relocations, sourcing, and fleet upgrades.
• Coordinate with fab modules, internal groups, third-party vendors, suppliers, and part planners to maintain tool and spare-parts support.
• Drive cost-saving activities, establish repair paths, maintain critical-parts inventory, and create requisitions for parts and services.

Requirements

• BS degree and 4–5 years of experience, or MS degree and 2–4 years of relevant experience, or PhD and 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom environment.
• Fluent English, both written and verbal.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment, wear a cleanroom suit, work with wet chemicals, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to work safely and responsibly while supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of semiconductor and silicon processing.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical components.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Ability to effectively lead tool troubleshooting.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, customers, and internal and external partners.
• Project management skills, including innovating and executing solutions and navigating ambiguity.
