Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C., New York, or San Francisco, United States; three days per week in the office, up to 50% travel, and possible work at secure customer facilities. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $170K–$400K plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead technical customer engagements end to end and deliver solutions with sound engineering judgment.
• Build reusable deployment capabilities and guide implementation strategy.
• Design integrations that respect environment access boundaries and approved data flows.
• Evaluate AI behavior with permitted datasets and develop testing, observability, and human-review practices.
• Partner with customer security and infrastructure teams on environment readiness, releases, and operational handoff.
• Coach teammates, capture repeatable practices, escalate customer or product issues, and share approved lessons while protecting customer-sensitive details.

Requirements

• 4+ years of engineering experience building production frontend and backend systems with JavaScript or Python.
• Experience shipping ambiguous projects, making sound reuse-versus-customization decisions, and communicating clear decisions under pressure.
• Experience building or integrating software in environments with restricted access, connectivity, or data handling.
• Ability to diagnose deployment problems with limited tooling and collaborate with cleared customer teams.
• Active U.S. government security clearance required. Ability to maintain the clearance and obtain customer-specific access is required.
• Ability to work onsite in customer-approved environments and account for restrictions on data, connectivity, tooling, and access.
