TL;DR
Senior IT Engineer (Robotics): Owning identity, endpoint, infrastructure, helpdesk, SaaS, and IT automation platforms for a robotics company with an accent on Okta, Fleet, Proxmox, Ceph, networking, and production operations. Focus on migrating and standardizing device management, automating onboarding and access lifecycle, operating resilient infrastructure, and enabling scalable support across offices and remote sites.

Location: On-site at the Cambridge, MA office; this role is not remote. Travel up to approximately 15% to the Boston office, San Francisco office, and new remote sites. Business hours plus planned maintenance windows; on-call rotation will be formalized as the team grows. Must be able to lift 40 lbs and work in network closets, IDFs, server racks, and lab spaces.

Company

hirify.global builds general-purpose robots intended to improve quality of life in homes, workplaces, factories, farms, and other environments.

What you will do

  • Run Okta and Google Workspace as production identity platforms, including SSO, SCIM, lifecycle automation, access reviews, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Own macOS, Linux, Windows, and mobile device management; lead the migration from JumpCloud to Fleet and manage provisioning, patching, encryption, CrowdStrike enrollment, and compliance reporting.
  • Operate Proxmox virtualization, Ceph storage, Cisco Meraki networking, wireless infrastructure, 802.1X access, backups, monitoring, and recovery processes.
  • Own helpdesk operations as a service by setting service levels, escalation paths, playbooks, documentation, reporting, and quality standards for Tier 1 support.
  • Manage the CMDB, asset lifecycle, Box and other SaaS tenants, and integrations of new tools behind SSO.
  • Build remote-site kits, automate repetitive work with scripts, APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and AI tools, and direct contractors and platform projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in corporate IT or systems engineering, or 8+ years without a degree, including at least 3 years as the accountable owner of production platforms.
  • Production administration of an identity provider, preferably Okta, including SSO, SCIM provisioning, lifecycle automation, and access reviews.
  • Production ownership of an MDM platform across macOS and at least one of Linux or Windows, including zero-touch provisioning, patching, and compliance policies.
  • Hands-on production operation of virtualization and storage platforms such as Proxmox, VMware, or Hyper-V and Ceph, SAN, or NAS, including upgrades and failure recovery.
  • Experience directing an MSP, contractors, or Tier 1 team against documented service levels.
  • Automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell with vendor APIs; examples of automation and resulting time savings are expected.
  • Enterprise networking experience covering VLANs, DHCP/DNS, Wi-Fi, 802.1X, VPN, or zero-trust access.
  • Clear technical writing and the ability to explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Successful completion of a standard pre-employment background check and E-Verify employment authorization verification after hire.

Nice to have

  • Fleet, osquery, JumpCloud, or Jamf experience, including an MDM migration.
  • Cisco Meraki and Tailscale or another WireGuard-based access tool.
  • Jira Service Management, CMDB, Google Workspace, and Box administration.
  • Infrastructure-as-code or configuration management using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • Experience operating controls in a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 environment, including Vanta or a similar platform.
  • Experience supporting Linux-heavy engineering teams in robotics, embedded systems, ML, or similar environments.
  • Basic AWS IAM and account hygiene.
  • Use of AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT to improve work and help others adopt them safely.
  • Early-stage or growth-stage startup experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative environment grounded in humility, creative vision, and technical excellence.
  • Competitive salary, annual cash bonus, and company equity.
  • Company-subsidized insurance programs and 401(k) with company match.
  • Flexible PTO and daily lunch.
  • Engineering ownership with support from a Head of IT, Corporate Security Engineer, contractors, and Tier 1 partners.
