TL;DR
Senior Java Spring Boot Developer (Payments Microservices): Design and develop high-performance payment microservices and RESTful APIs for secure, scalable banking transactions with an accent on Spring Boot, Java backend architecture, and secure service integration. Focus on optimizing distributed application performance, implementing CI/CD automation, and solving complex communication and resource-utilization challenges across hybrid and on-premise environments.
Location: Lisbon or Porto, Portugal; hybrid work model. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.
Salary: €4,410–€5,250 per month for B2B contracts; €2,300–€2,600 net per month for permanent contracts.

What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance microservices and RESTful APIs with Spring Boot.
- Architect Java backend solutions using enterprise design patterns, clean code principles, and engineering best practices.
- Translate payment business requirements into scalable technical solutions with Product Owners, Tech Leads, and cross-functional teams.
- Implement secure API integrations, error handling, and communication between microservices and external systems.
- Review code, troubleshoot and profile complex application issues, and optimize performance and resource utilization.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment in hybrid and on-premise environments.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in Java software development and microservices architecture.
- Deep expertise in Spring Boot 3.x and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA.
- Proficiency in Java 17 or 21, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and multithreading.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs, applying API-first strategies, and securing microservices communication with OAuth2 and JWT.
- Strong SQL skills with Oracle or PostgreSQL, including data modeling and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation tools such as Jenkins.
- Existing legal right to work in the European Union.
- Fluent English at B2/C1 level.
Nice to have
- Frontend development skills with Angular, including fullstack experience.
- Fluency in French.
