Director of Development

Location: Remote within the United States, or based in New York City or Oakland, California.

Salary: $170,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead the fundraising team and secure $20M+ in new philanthropic commitments in 2027, building toward $30M in annual philanthropy by 2030.
• Build direct, trust-based relationships with major institutional, multilateral, principal, and high-diligence funders.
• Translate technical, quantitative, and data-driven impact into rigorous, customized proposals, reports, pitches, and funder communications.
• Set fundraising strategy across revenue targets, fundraising rounds, renewals, new funders, major gifts, and steady-state fundraising.
• Manage, coach, and grow the fundraising team while building scalable pipeline reviews, proposal calendars, reporting cadences, data hygiene, and stewardship systems.
• Collaborate with the Chief Growth Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Director, Finance, Impact Analytics, state, product, design, and GTM teams.

Requirements

• Significant experience in nonprofit development or for-profit fundraising leadership, with a record of managing a team and meeting revenue goals.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with senior and sophisticated stakeholders, including major donors, principals, and foundation staff.
• Comfort and credibility with high-diligence, quantitative funders, including the ability to turn complex, data-driven impact into a clear and rigorous case for support.
• Strong people-management skills, including coaching, goal-setting, and developing the capacity of a small team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent hirify.global’s mission and impact persuasively.
• Ability to lead public-facing funder and global-forum engagement rather than remaining behind the scenes.

Nice to have

• Experience in government, public-sector, B2G, mission-driven, or nonprofit contexts.
• Existing relationships in tech for good, economic development, justice, or adjacent fundraising ecosystems.
