Product Engineer (AI)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; hybrid with up to 2 remote days per week. Candidates must be based in Cambridge or willing to relocate.

What you will do

• Build a requirements foundation that ingests customer specifications and RFQ packages, extracts requirements with LLM and agent-based pipelines, and maintains traceability to source documents and pages.
• Extend the platform to design rules, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Design for Cost.
• Bring requirements, constraints, and trade-offs into design workflows so engineers can check designs at any stage.
• Build integrations with requirements management systems, ERP systems, and system design and MBSE tools.
• Design data models linking requirements, rules, and constraints to parts, design parameters, and simulation results.
• Create evaluation sets, quality metrics, human-in-the-loop review flows, versioning, audit trails, and reusable platform components.

Requirements

• Experience building and shipping production Python software in fast-moving, cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on production experience with LLM applications, including structured outputs, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, and evaluation.
• Experience integrating enterprise systems through APIs and data models, such as ERP, PLM, or requirements management tools.
• Experience with document processing, including PDF parsing, OCR, or information extraction.
• Strong software practices covering testing with pytest, CI, packaging, code review, and git.
• Product mindset with the ability to talk to users, understand problems before coding, and ship in small, measurable steps.
• Clear, concise communication with customer engineers and internal teams.
• Based in Cambridge, UK or willing to relocate.

Nice to have

• Background in mechanical engineering or physics, with exposure to Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, or design-to-cost practices.
• Familiarity with requirements engineering and model-based systems engineering, including MBSE and SysML.
• Experience working with CAD data or geometry processing.
• Experience with vision-language models, vector databases, or search ranking.
