Group Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid; work from the London (Moorgate) offices two days per week, with the final interview held in person.

What you will do

• Own the health, delivery, and direction of several product engineering teams and the Team Leads managing them.
• Partner with Product and stakeholders to deliver features and propositions that unlock new revenue streams and increase revenue from existing customers.
• Shape the 3–12 month roadmap around commercial impact, customer value, technical investment, and risk.
• Influence architecture and technical direction, including scalability, resilience, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, build-versus-buy decisions, and technical debt.
• Lead, coach, and develop Team Leads while owning predictable, iterative delivery of quarterly objectives.
• Identify future dependencies and resource gaps, address performance issues, and contribute to recruitment strategy and organisational design.

Requirements

• Strong product and commercial instincts, with a track record of delivering features or propositions that generated new revenue or grew revenue from existing customers.
• Customer-focused, commercially aware, and data-informed decision-making.
• Demonstrable strength in software architecture and system design, including setting direction and evaluating scalability, cost, and maintainability trade-offs.
• Proven experience managing managers or Team Leads and developing them into senior leaders.
• Strong people-management experience, including hiring, development, and performance management.
• Solid technical background and understanding of full-stack teams and codebases; the current stack includes .NET and React.
• Experience leading and delivering complex, cross-team projects.
• Excellent concise, clear, and adaptable communication with engineers and senior leadership.
• Calm, stabilising leadership through ambiguity and rapid organisational growth.

• Experience in a scaling, regulated, fintech, or tech-enabled environment.

Hiring process

• 30-minute introductory values call with a Talent Partner by video.
• 60-minute technical and management interview, followed by a 60-minute system design interview, all by video.
• Final in-person stage: a 60-minute product and engineering case study and a 60-minute Good to Great interview with the CTO.
