Safety Specialist (Manufacturing)

Location: Benson, NC; role based at the hirify.global R&D facility in Durham, NC. Onsite, full-time day shift. Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

What you will do

• Assist in developing and implementing the site safety program in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
• Lead occupational health and safety programs covering incident reporting and investigation, hazardous energy control, PPE, hot work, fire prevention, and related risk-reduction activities.
• Own weekly tailgate meetings, build supervisor capability, and run safety observation, suggestion, self-assessment, and safety-check programs.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering and operations on safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Perform equipment and workplace inspections, maintain PPE inventories, and provide supplemental environmental compliance support, including hazardous waste audits and shipping.
• Track safety KPIs, maintain audit-ready documentation, facilitate root cause analyses, and partner with R&D and process engineering during scale-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 4+ years of job-specific experience.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards, job hazard analyses, and incident investigation methodology.
• Ability to operate with real authority and autonomy.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust and credibility.
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training.
• Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds, lift up to 35 lbs, walk, balance, and stoop.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Nice to have

• Bilingual communication skills.
• First aid, CPR, and AED certification.
