Assistant Project Manager (Construction/Data Centres)

Location: London, England, UK; based within a reasonable commuting distance of Hayes / West London or willing to commute to the project site. On-site five days a week.

What you will do

• Support the delivery of major construction projects, focusing on large-scale data centre and critical infrastructure developments.
• Participate in project meetings, monitor progress, identify challenges, and collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders on practical solutions.
• Implement project procedures and support consistent adherence to project requirements, standards, and agreed processes.
• Maintain a visible site presence, assess construction progress, engage with delivery teams, and promote safe working practices.
• Develop weekly action plans, follow up on critical activities, review variations and potential delays, and help assess their impact.
• Coordinate snagging and close-out activities, tracking and prioritising issues through successful project handover.

Requirements

• Passion for construction and interest in the practical delivery of projects.
• Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Proactive problem-solving approach, willingness to challenge assumptions constructively, and ability to find better delivery methods.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of project stakeholders.
• Ability to take ownership of priorities, manage deadlines, and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with confidence engaging with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Willingness to work on site five days a week and learn about construction methods, site operations, and project delivery.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of experience working for a general contractor within the construction sector; this is not essential for the right candidate.
