Vice President of Engineering (Logistics Technology)

Location: Remote within the U.S.; Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour break, with flexibility based on coverage.

Salary: $220,000–$260,000 annually, plus eligibility for annual performance incentives.

What you will do

• Lead, grow, and retain engineering managers, senior engineers, and individual contributors across product engineering, platform, DevOps, and QA.
• Own software delivery from planning and sprint execution through release management, launch readiness, monitoring, and post-launch retrospectives.
• Define architectural standards for software systems, microservices, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations while driving technical debt reduction and modernization.
• Own reliability, availability, performance, SLAs, incident management, on-call rotations, monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and zero-downtime deployments.
• Partner with Product, Data/AI, Operations, Finance, and executive leadership on roadmap delivery, platform interoperability, budgets, vendor contracts, and cloud cost optimization.
• Oversee DevOps and infrastructure engineering, including CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment tooling, security, compliance, SOC 2, data privacy, and access control.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years in engineering leadership roles managing teams of 30+ engineers across multiple product areas.
• Proven experience shipping complex, high-availability B2B or enterprise software systems at scale.
• Strong technical depth in system design, code review, architectural trade-offs, and incident response.
• Experience managing engineering managers and building a leadership bench.
• Expertise in modern cloud-native architecture, including Azure or AWS, Kubernetes, microservices, event-driven systems, and CI/CD.
• Demonstrated ability to improve delivery velocity and engineering quality simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, including executive presentation and translating technical complexity into business terms.
• Experience in logistics, supply chain, freight technology, or a similarly operationally complex, high-transaction-volume domain.
• Experience building platforms integrating with external systems, carrier APIs, ERP/WMS, EDI, load boards, or similar systems.
• Experience at a private-equity-backed or high-growth technology company scaling through a major engineering inflection point.

• Familiarity with data engineering and ML infrastructure, particularly integrating AI/ML capabilities into production software systems.
• Track record of building engineering cultures that retain top talent and consistently attract strong candidates.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
