Software Development Engineer in Test II

Location: Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $45–$58 CAD per hour

What you will do

• Review product requirements and design documents to create testing strategies, test plans, and test cases.
• Execute tests for new and existing features across multiple platforms and devices.
• Implement, maintain, and improve test automation scripts and frameworks.
• Report, track, and verify defects while monitoring automation jobs.
• Provide status reports to leadership and key partners.
• Work with the infrastructure team to maintain shared services, including CI test pipelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.
• At least 2 years of experience in UI automation for web or native applications.
• Validated experience in the software testing lifecycle.
• Experience with both centralized and distributed version control solutions.
• Experience maintaining CI systems, preferably Jenkins.
• Experience with Selenium or Appium.
• Experience with one or more programming or scripting languages, preferably Python.
• Strong quality focus, clear professional communication, and the ability to collaborate with technical teams, product stakeholders, project leads, and geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams.
• Ability to identify risks early, ask questions, and support informed quality and release decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with a modern web application framework such as Angular, Ember.js, or React.
• Experience developing or testing a non-PC device, such as a phone, game console, or set-top box.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Significant experience with Python.
• Experience with Node.js or React Native.
• Experience developing or writing test code for a game console.
