Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Distributed Systems)

Location: Onsite at the Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia office

What you will do

• Develop and maintain reliable, scalable backend services and APIs across multiple service clusters.
• Write and optimize database queries using technologies such as MySQL and Presto.
• Profile systems, troubleshoot issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Contribute to cloud projects on AWS, GCP, or Azure and support deployments through CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated testing.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, with opportunities to lead a small engineering team.

Requirements

• More than 4 years of backend development experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed web or API services, including systems internals and networking.
• Hands-on experience with databases and query languages such as MySQL or Presto.
• Strong understanding of system performance and the ability to profile and resolve bottlenecks.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; unit, integration, and end-to-end testing frameworks; and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with any programming language and willingness to work with Golang and Scala, including Apache Flink.
