Software Dev Engineer (ED), Amazon Devices - Ring & Blink (IoT)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; potential locations across France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Spain, and the UK. This is not a remote position.

What you will do

• Develop software solutions for privacy engineering, hypervisors, IoT devices, privacy-oriented services, and Ring products.
• Design and implement complex, large-scale distributed systems and contribute to industry-standard technologies such as the AWS Nitro System.
• Develop and optimize code for performance, scalability, and reliability across the full software development lifecycle.
• Work on low-level system components, including operating systems, firmware, and device drivers.
• Implement security measures to protect customer data and support regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver software and device features.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, plus a Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field.
• Expected graduation between November 2026 and December 2027, or graduation within the last 24 months.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in an academic or professional setting.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Java, C, C++, C#, Objective-C, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go.
• Experience implementing data structures, developing basic algorithms, and/or applying object-oriented design principles.
• Experience in embedded development with C/C++ or general troubleshooting and debugging of hardware.
• Experience with Linux, embedded development, firmware, and shell scripting.

Nice to have

• Additional experience in embedded development with C/C++ or programming with at least one software programming language.
• Previous technical internships or demonstrated project experience.
• Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C, or C++.
• Experience with computer architecture or writing low-level drivers.
• Experience with RTOS or bare-metal programming.
