Data Science Intern, Data and AI Team – Summer 2027 (AI)

Location: Hybrid, US - Foster City, CA; at least 3 days in the office, with 5–10% travel required.

Estimated hourly rate: $46–$55 USD.

What you will do

• Analyze large-scale datasets with cloud-based platforms and tools including Python, SQL, Spark, and other cloud-native technologies.
• Use governed data assets and reusable pipelines for exploratory analysis, feature development, trend evaluation, and insight generation.
• Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, experimentation, forecasting, segmentation, optimization, performance measurement, and decision modeling.
• Develop and evaluate models and decision frameworks that support opportunity analysis, tradeoff assessment, and responsible data-informed decisions.
• Create dashboards and visualizations with Power BI, Tableau, and conversational BI tools, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data science, product, technology, data and analytics, privacy, governance, regional, and global teams while improving scalable, reusable, and automated analytical workflows.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related STEM or quantitative field, with graduation expected between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Strong communication skills, including clear and concise written and spoken communication, professional judgment, and an absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors.

Nice to have

• Experience analyzing data with statistical software such as Python, SAS, R, or Stata.
• Experience with visualization and reporting tools, including advanced PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, or open-source tools.
• Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continual learning.
• Exposure to financial services, credit cards, or merchant analytics.
• Experience extracting and aggregating data from large datasets using SQL or other tools.
• Understanding of machine learning techniques.
• Competence in Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
