Senior Specialist Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Location: Hybrid, West Point, Pennsylvania, United States; US and Puerto Rico residents only. Travel requirements: 10%. No relocation.

Salary: $117,000–$184,200 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus and long-term incentive where applicable.

What you will do

• Support manufacturing and utility process automation systems for barrier operations, formulation, and filling.
• Troubleshoot equipment and automation issues and improve manufacturing performance.
• Maintain automation systems across the equipment lifecycle in compliance with cGMP, GMP, and safety requirements.
• Act as an automation systems subject matter expert within the production team and provide on-floor technical support.
• Review automation documentation, preventive maintenance, and SOPs; participate in audits and training.
• Develop corrective actions, investigations, and change controls for automation and IT systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in a manufacturing automation-related role in a regulated industry.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing principles and processes, with the ability to translate manufacturing requirements into automation and digital solutions.
• Experience with system validation and other quality management functions, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
• Experience navigating and troubleshooting process control systems, including DCS, PLCs, and industrial communication protocols.
• Preferred process control technologies include DeltaV DCS, Allen-Bradley PLC, OPC, Siemens Step7, Modbus, Fieldbus, and Profibus.
• Project management experience and strong technical writing, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, relationship-building, matrix leadership, and matrix management skills.
• Ability to demonstrate the company's Leadership Principles and Enterprise Leadership, with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.

Nice to have

• Understanding and ability to apply regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the role.
• Experience with networking, virtual machines, database management, and general IT administration.
• Direct experience with SDLC and change controls for a GMP-regulated process or system.
