Data Science Intern (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington; hybrid schedule with in-person work Tuesday through Thursday; interns must live within reasonable commuting distance of the Seattle office.

Base pay range: $104,000–$166,000 annually in applicable locations, including Washington state. Eligible interns receive a stipend to help offset summer housing and relocation costs.

What you will do

• Turn open-ended business questions into analytical plans with clear goals and deliverables.
• Use SQL and Python or R to explore, prepare, validate, and document data while identifying data-quality issues.
• Analyze customer behavior and business performance to identify patterns, insights, and opportunities.
• Apply regression, hypothesis testing, experiment analysis, A/B tests, or pilots as appropriate to the project.
• Define and interpret metrics, create visualizations and reproducible analyses, and support performance tracking.
• Present findings, recommendations, limitations, documentation, and final handoff to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or a related quantitative field, with an expected graduation date before December 2028.
• Foundation in probability, statistics, and data analysis through coursework, research, or projects.
• Ability to use Python, R, or a similar programming language to manipulate data and perform analysis.
• Familiarity with SQL and relational data, or demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.
• Interest in investigating patterns, asking questions, and structuring ambiguous problems.
• Ability to check assumptions, validate results, distinguish supported conclusions from uncertainty, and communicate clearly.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Curiosity about using AI tools while maintaining independent judgment, validating outputs, and following data-handling guidelines.

Nice to have

• Exposure to A/B testing, experimental design, or causal inference.
• Experience with data visualization tools or libraries.
• Familiarity with regression, predictive modeling, or other statistical learning methods.
• Experience organizing reproducible work with notebooks, version control, or clear technical documentation.
• Coursework, academic research, student organization, or personal project experience.
