Principal Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Flex hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners.

Annual base salary: $168,000–$252,000 CAD.

What you will do

• Build and deliver full-stack features powering AI agents embedded in HR and Financial workflows.
• Design and ship frontend experiences and resilient backend services that integrate AI capabilities into hirify.global’s platform.
• Own services and user experiences from development through production operations.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers, product managers, and platform teams in a small cross-functional pod.
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and raise the technical bar through strong engineering practices and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience with a web development framework, with Python preferred, including Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
• 5+ years of experience with relational databases, with PostgreSQL preferred.
• Experience building and operating SaaS products in cloud environments, with AWS preferred.
• Familiarity with modern distributed-systems architecture and tradeoffs.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch.
• Proven success in fast-paced, agile, cross-functional environments; strong communication skills with technical and non-technical partners; and the ability to work through ambiguity and translate complex problems into clear solutions.
• Commitment to an inclusive, team-oriented environment and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

• Exposure to additional programming languages such as Java for backend development and TypeScript for frontend or full-stack development.
