Product Reliability Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite. Candidates must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.

Salary: $96,350–$153,040 USD per year, with Engineer I / E03 at $96,350–$132,480 and Engineer II / E04 at $111,300–$153,040.

What you will do

• Lead process-improvement and defect-reduction initiatives by analyzing quality and production data, identifying root causes, implementing process controls, and standardizing inspection procedures.
• Optimize inspection strategies, including CMM programming, and establish acceptance criteria aligned with customer requirements and industry practices.
• Manage customer quality engagement, audits, PPAP, FAIR, and other customer-specific documentation and deliverables.
• Manage nonconformances, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and Material Review Board processes.
• Monitor yield, defect rates, on-time delivery, and other KPIs; develop dashboards and reports with actionable quality insights.
• Develop scalable quality control plans, deploy inspection technologies, support process validation and NPI, and mentor quality team members.

Requirements

• Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
• Demonstrated experience with quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization in manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with PPAP, FMEA, and root cause analysis to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
• Knowledge of advanced inspection methods and tools, including CMM programming, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting data, identifying trends, and making data-informed decisions to improve yield and reduce defects.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Clear communication and documentation skills for presenting quality metrics, deliverables, and insights.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related Engineering, or equivalent experience in a quality-focused role.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace, or defense and familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
• Hands-on experience with PPAP documentation and customer engagement for quality deliverables.
• Experience with statistical process control and Cpk process capability analysis.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.
