Strategic Buyer (Automotive)

Location: Virtual - Mexico; preferred locations are Múzquiz or Piedras Negras, Mexico. Hybrid or remote work arrangements may also be considered.

What you will do

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for key materials and components supporting commercial vehicle products across North America.
• Lead cross-functional value-added and value-engineering projects for purchased products, track milestones, and ensure timely delivery.
• Assess and mitigate supply risks, evaluate suppliers, and implement dual-sourcing strategies to ensure supply continuity.
• Analyze product cost structures and manufacturing processes, negotiate using cost breakdowns, and support Engineering in developing optimized products.
• Build collaboration with strategic suppliers, identify business growth opportunities, and support new product development.
• Analyze KPIs, prepare management reports, and purchase products and services according to established procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in Procurement and/or Engineering.
• Strong willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
• Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, strategic thinking, and effective time management and planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proactive team-player attitude and strong attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Understanding of technical drawings and knowledge of custom-made components.
• Knowledge of electronic components, their market, and supply dynamics.
• Understanding of automotive industry processes.
• Experience with SAP.
