Software Engineer, External Integrations & Data (AI)

Series A company building an integrated commerce platform that helps independent building suppliers streamline operations, improve customer service, and deliver digital buying experiences.

What you will do

• Build integrations with external websites, platforms, and services when official APIs are unavailable, incomplete, or restrictive.
• Develop pipelines to collect, extract, transform, clean, and normalize data from HTML pages, dynamic web applications, documents, and unstructured content.
• Reverse engineer network requests, browser behavior, page structures, and undocumented interfaces.
• Build scraping and automation tools using browser automation, HTTP clients, headless browsers, and custom extraction logic.
• Design resilient integrations with monitoring, retries, validation, error handling, automated testing, and scalability in mind.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to turn ambiguous requirements and unfamiliar external systems into maintainable solutions, including AI-assisted data processing.

Requirements

• Professional software engineering experience building production-quality applications, integrations, or data pipelines.
• Experience with at least one of the following: web scraping or large-scale data extraction; reverse engineering or undocumented interfaces; third-party integrations without robust APIs; or extracting, transforming, and cleaning inconsistent external data.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Experience with HTTP, REST concepts, HTML, DOM structures, JSON, .NET C#, and network requests.
• Understanding of authentication, cookies, sessions, pagination, rate limiting, and other external integration challenges.
• Experience designing maintainable software that adapts when external systems change.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills for investigating unfamiliar systems and solving ambiguous technical problems.
• A pragmatic, resourceful mindset with willingness to experiment, prototype, and find creative solutions.
