Senior Software Engineer II - Agentic SDLC

Location: Remote across Canada; strong preference for candidates based in Vancouver, BC who can work in a hybrid capacity. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and must not require current or future employer sponsorship.

Base salary: $145,000–$160,000 in local currency, depending on experience and geographic location.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end delivery of large, ambiguous, and mission-critical software initiatives spanning multiple systems or engineering teams.
• Own project execution from design through rollout, using AI-assisted coding tools, agentic workflows, and automated guardrails where applicable.
• Provide technical guidance through code reviews, architectural decisions, engineering best practices, and collaboration with AI coding agents.
• Mentor junior engineers and help them develop technical, design, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Shape technical strategy, architecture, agentic SDLC adoption, engineering standards, tooling, documentation, and development processes.
• Lead improvements in reliability, scalability, observability, incident response, automated code review, and refactoring while communicating complex concepts to engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience delivering complex software systems and solving technical challenges.
• Strong backend experience architecting and building robust services with Python, Flask, and/or FastAPI.
• Experience writing comprehensive backend tests, such as Pytest, and ensuring strong test coverage.
• Ability to break complex projects into components or milestones that other engineers can pick up easily.
• Motivation to improve the quality, reliability, and performance of shipped services.
• Demonstrated collaboration with coworkers on cross-functional teams.
• Experience building consumer-facing applications and internal tools.

Nice to have

• Familiarity or decent frontend experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
