Semiconductor Memory Research and Qualification Staff Engineer (AI)

Location: Shakopee, United States; onsite campus role. Travel up to 10%.

Base salary: $96,408.00–$140,506.00 per year.

What you will do

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify advanced memory technologies from early-stage research and proof-of-concept demonstrations through component qualification and product integration.
• Collaborate with memory suppliers, startups, research institutions, and internal device engineering, system architecture, product engineering, reliability, and test teams.
• Develop and execute electrical characterization, reliability, and qualification plans aligned with applicable industry standards.
• Investigate device and array behavior, performance tradeoffs, and failure mechanisms through designed experiments.
• Develop and improve test infrastructure, including test methodologies, laboratory capabilities, test programs, software, and data-analysis frameworks.
• Analyze complex data, assess risks and opportunities, present recommendations, and guide technology decisions affecting future products.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience characterizing and qualifying one or more semiconductor memory technologies, such as DRAM, NAND Flash, MRAM, ReRAM, PCRAM, Optane-class memory, or Ferroelectric Memory.
• Deep expertise in semiconductor memory devices, characterization methodologies, reliability engineering, and qualification processes.
• Hands-on knowledge of laboratory test equipment, automated probers, and ATE memory testers.
• Strong C/C++ and Python programming and automation skills for tester and test program development.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and 8+ years of experience, or a master’s degree and 6+ years of experience, or a PhD and 3+ years of experience, or equivalent experience and education.
• Experience with statistical analysis and large-scale data processing.
• Ability to provide technical direction, apply engineering judgment, resolve complex technical problems using experimental data and root cause analysis, and influence technology and business decisions.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Track record of adopting AI tools to streamline technical work.
• Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fabrication, process integration, and technology development workflows.
• Experience with external research organizations, universities, startups, or semiconductor ecosystem partners.
