Scientist, Large Molecule Analytical (Biologics)

Location: On-site in Rahway, New Jersey, United States. Domestic relocation is indicated. Travel requirements: 10%.

Salary: $87,300–$137,400 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus and long-term incentive where applicable.

What you will do

• Develop, qualify, implement, troubleshoot, and transfer analytical methods for monoclonal proteins and other complex therapeutic proteins.
• Solve complex analytical problems at the interface of biology, chemistry, and laboratory informatics.
• Execute laboratory experiments, interpret data, and operate analytical methods with appropriate technical guidance.
• Manage individual deliverables and prioritization within overall project timelines.
• Author and review internal technical reports, regulatory filing sections such as IND and BLA, and external scientific publications.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced, integrated, multidisciplinary project environment and provide scientific leadership.

Requirements

• BA/BS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, or an M.S. with a minimum of 0+ years of relevant experience and expected graduation no later than January 2027.
• Prior laboratory experience and the ability to apply basic scientific principles and concepts in a laboratory setting.
• Experience executing routine experiments, interpreting data, and operating and troubleshooting analytical methods.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of separation science.
• Experience with UPLC/HPLC analysis of biologics, including SEC, RP, or IEX, and CE techniques, or with molecular biology techniques such as PCR and DNA extraction.
• Experience with immunoassays and gel electrophoresis techniques.
• Ability to work within project timelines and manage individual deliverables with appropriate supervision.
• Demonstrated experience working in collaborative team environments.
• Effective organization, multitasking, oral and written communication, and scientific leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working as part of a project team.
• Strong knowledge of protein structure and degradation pathways.
• Experience analyzing biologic modalities such as monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, or fusion proteins.
• Background in analytical methodologies and understanding of Critical Quality Attributes, QbD, and DOE principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and research applications such as RLIMS, ELN, or Empower.
• Experience in data analytics, programming, or laboratory automation.
• Evidence of strong cross-functional collaboration in an academic or industrial setting and a desire to conduct research and publish.
