Research and Development Applications Scientist (LC/LC-MS)

Location: Wilmington, Delaware, United States; onsite role with 10% travel and day shift.

Salary: $127,680–$199,500 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop performance requirements for new Liquid Chromatography and LC/MS consumable products.
• Partner with Marketing on qualification plans, performance data, product launches, and marketing materials.
• Design, execute, analyze, and document experiments to validate product prototypes against performance requirements.
• Evaluate product performance, solve technical challenges, interpret data, perform statistical analyses, and prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Support the transition of new product designs into manufacturing, including development of quality control test methods.
• Create customer-facing technical content and deliver technical presentations, webinars, training sessions, conference presentations, and technical publications when appropriate.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Liquid Chromatography and LC/MS.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to work independently, lead technical projects, collaborate across functions, and contribute to scientific thought leadership.
• Ability to conduct laboratory work safely in compliance with Environmental Health & Safety standards and maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks.
• Strong problem-solving, statistical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of sample preparation techniques.
• Experience with Gas Chromatography, GC/MS, and/or atomic spectroscopy.
• Familiarity with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software.
• Ability to present technical information to a variety of audiences.
