Research Scientist I (Medicinal Chemistry)

Location: Buffalo, NY, United States; onsite at The Conventus Building.

Salary: $62,353.20 per year.

What you will do

• Synthesize intermediates and target compounds using literature or in-house notebook procedures.
• Purify chemicals using chromatographic, crystallization, and distillation techniques.
• Analyze and identify compounds using TLC, HPLC, polarimetry, IR, and NMR.
• Run several reactions concurrently and manage time across multiple projects.
• Complete required project paperwork and conduct laboratory operations safely under the Chemical Hygiene Plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in chemistry, or equivalent industrial/scientific experience.
• 0–5 years of industry experience in medicinal chemistry.
• Ability to demonstrate theoretical and practical expertise in organic chemistry.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening.

Nice to have

• Ability to modify reaction conditions to improve yields.
• Ability to conduct literature searches for target compounds, related structures, and compound or reaction conditions.
