Project Leader/Scientist II - Analytical Development (Biotech)

Location: USA - NC - Durham - Emperor Blvd; onsite role.

Salary: $110,000–$138,000 annually, with the possibility of variation based on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Lead technical and people activities for development-stage analytical programs across analytical development, process development, and project management.
• Define analytical strategies and provide hands-on support for method development, optimization, troubleshooting, fit-for-purpose assessment, and advancement toward qualification or validation.
• Coordinate internal and cross-functional execution, communicate program status, risks, and strategy, and serve as a scientific contact for clients.
• Review study plans, method development reports, technical summaries, ELNs, and client-facing deliverables for scientific rigor and regulatory alignment.
• Mentor and develop Scientists, Associates, and supporting staff, including onboarding, feedback, career development, and performance expectations.
• Support laboratory operations, resource planning, hiring activities, safety, quality, compliance, and adherence to internal procedures.

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 2+ years of directly related experience, M.S. with 7+ years of related experience, or B.S. with 10+ years of related experience; prior experience must include direct people management or team leadership.
• Demonstrated analytical method development experience across a broad range of techniques used in biologics development, including ELISA and other ligand-binding assays.
• Experience with liquid chromatography-based methods such as HPLC/UPLC, SDS-PAGE and related gel-based techniques, and capillary electrophoresis-based methods such as CE-SDS and icIEF.
• Experience supporting methods through development, optimization, troubleshooting, and advancement across program phases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop scientific staff and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organization skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-program environment while balancing competing priorities.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle additional responsibilities, and maintain a professional and positive demeanor.

• Client-facing experience, including direct sponsor interaction, participation in technical meetings, and presentation of data and recommendations.
