Global Controller (Financial Services)

Location: Norfolk, VA, United States; other location: Charlotte, NC

Salary: $300,000 plus bonus; additional performance-based bonus and/or equity programs may be available.

What you will do

• Lead global controllership, general ledger accounting, consolidations, reconciliations, multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, governance, and financial close processes.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, SEC reporting including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, segment reporting, accounting estimates, and disclosures.
• Direct technical accounting for complex transactions, acquisitions, goodwill, derivatives, hedging activities, new business initiatives, finance receivables, revenue recognition, and CECL.
• Lead global tax accounting, compliance, planning, and risk management with external advisors.
• Manage external audit relationships and partner with the Audit Committee, executive leadership, Investor Relations, FP&A, and Legal on reporting, risk, controls, and governance.
• Drive finance transformation, ERP optimization, automation, process improvement, strategic analysis, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets activities, and disclosure controls while developing a global accounting organization.

Requirements

• At least 8–10 years of leadership experience within a large, complex global financial services organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and CPA certification.
• Extensive experience with U.S. GAAP, international entity accounting such as IFRS, SEC and financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing external audits and prior public accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems, financial processes, ERP platforms, and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated success executing finance transformation initiatives in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
• Experience managing global, multicultural accounting teams and collaborating across matrixed global organizations.
• Executive presence with experience presenting to Audit Committees, plus strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Strategic thinking, strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, timely decision-making, integrity, professionalism, ethical leadership, and the ability to deliver organizational objectives.
• Experience in talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
• Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, capital markets financing, and deconsolidation matters.
