Manufacturing Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Onsite five days per week at the Boston-area contract manufacturing facility in Westborough, MA, and the Charlestown office depending on project-specific needs.

Salary: $124,000–$134,000 per year.

What you will do

• Provide engineering support for design changes, deviations, reworks, and manufacturing issues affecting production schedules.
• Initiate Engineering Change Orders, revise mechanical drawings, create redlines, and update 2D and 3D CAD files.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly planning with contract manufacturing stakeholders.
• Propose, test, and implement assembly process improvements to increase manufacturing throughput and reliability.
• Design, prototype, and implement mechanical jigs and fixtures.
• Define incoming material inspection requirements and support component-level Design for Manufacture activities with the Design Engineering Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in hardware R&D or manufacturing, including at least 2 years as a Manufacturing Engineer focused on assembly and testing of complex, large-format industrial equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of industry-standard instruments and practices for inspecting mechanical components.
• Extensive familiarity with CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, wire and cable, welding, casting, printed circuit board fabrication, and assembly.
• Extensive familiarity with enterprise product change management tools, including PDM and PLM, and industry-standard ECO processes.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Familiarity with mechanical documentation standards, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing according to ASME Y14.5.
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to create and maintain polished documentation.
