Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; 5%–10% international travel required. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Base salary: $135,000–$167,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design and production release for actuator product lines, from initial architecture through manufacturing.
• Complete CAD and comprehensive drawing packages using GD&T and 1D/3D tolerance analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams on design for assembly, cost, and long-term reliability.
• Mentor early-career and mid-level design engineers, provide technical guidance, and conduct design reviews.
• Manage technical risk through FMEAs, validation planning, and due diligence for gears, bearings, seals, and shafts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Typically 7+ years of electromechanical product design and launch experience.
• Experience bringing complex electromechanical assemblies from architecture through production release in high-rigor environments such as automotive, aerospace, or medical devices.
• High proficiency in 3D CAD, with CATIA preferred, and PLM.
• Experience with detailed documentation, GD&T, and tolerance stack analysis.
• Ability to resolve ambiguous design challenges and balance innovation with practical manufacturing constraints.
• Experience leading cross-functional efforts and building alignment across technical teams through collaboration and clear communication.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
