Senior Lead AI Engineer - G&A; Systems (Finance Technology)

Location: Boston, MA, US; up to 10% travel may be required for onboarding, client or partner work, team meetings, and industry events.

Base pay range for US locations: $180,000–$270,000 USD per year, plus potential bonus, equity, sign-on payments, and benefits.

What you will do

• Reimagine Accounting, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Procurement, Internal Audit, and other Finance workflows through an AI-first approach.
• Design and build AI-powered workflows, copilots, agents, assistants, automation frameworks, and reusable internal tools.
• Architect integrations across NetSuite or Oracle, Zip, Zone Advanced Billing, Avalara or Vertex, and related enterprise SaaS systems.
• Establish practices for prompt engineering, evaluation, LLM system design, orchestration, versioning, testing, security, and observability.
• Define success metrics for efficiency, time savings, and operational effectiveness while enabling Finance users through playbooks and training materials.
• Partner with Finance, Corporate IT, Data, GTM Systems, Security, Legal, Internal Audit, and Global IT on compliant and ethical AI deployment.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of engineering or data engineering experience, including 2+ years building AI/ML or LLM-powered solutions with tangible business outcomes.
• Experience setting technical direction and building 0→1 systems with meaningful organizational impact.
• Strong experience with React, JSON, Python, SQL, modern APIs, and LLM platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini.
• Experience designing AI-powered workflows, agents, or copilots.
• Experience integrating Finance systems through Runlayer and MCPs, and integrating enterprise Financial SaaS systems.
• Experience designing scalable and secure systems, automation frameworks, and internal tools.
• Experience handling sensitive data and implementing responsible AI practices.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Passion and curiosity for experimenting with and reimagining Finance workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with NetSuite, Zip, Avalara/Vertex, Zone Advanced Billing, or equivalent Financial systems.
• Familiarity with SOX and ITGCs.
• Familiarity with middleware automation platforms such as n8n, Workato, or Zapier.
• Experience in high-growth SaaS environments.
• Contributions to AI governance, internal AI platforms, or experimentation frameworks.
