Project Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: US - Huntsville, Alabama; ability to travel domestically and internationally by approximately +/-10%.

What you will do

• Develop project proposals, prepare schedules, and coordinate and monitor concurrent engineering projects from conception through completion.
• Define technologies for next-generation products while addressing sustaining needs for current products.
• Determine project specifications through product design analysis, customer requirements, performance standards, technical studies, and cost estimates.
• Manage project quality, budgets, schedules, plans, personnel performance, applicable codes, QA/QC policies, and performance standards.
• Design and conduct tests to confirm product performance; review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions.
• Assign responsibilities, mentor project team members, provide technical support, and provide technical leadership to lower-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 10 years of directly related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working on design engineering, manufacturing, or construction projects, especially projects supporting commercial and/or Government (DOE) nuclear markets.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and statistical methods, including frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based instructions.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Office and development software.
• Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
• US citizenship and the ability to attain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR50 Appendix B, or DOE O 414 quality programs.
• Knowledge of specific design, analysis, ERP, or other engineering software.
