Project Manager Construction (Fiber/Telecommunications)

Location: Brea, California, United States; regular travel to assigned construction sites, with occasional evenings or weekends required during permitted construction windows.

Salary: USD 85,000–95,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead FTTH and outside plant construction projects from preconstruction and construction readiness through final customer acceptance and closeout.
• Convert awarded scopes into budgets, purchase and subcontract packages, schedules, permits, work plans, and coordinated field execution.
• Manage microtrenching, directional boring, and aerial construction, including conduit, handholes, vaults, cable placement, pole-owner requirements, restoration, and inspections.
• Coordinate foremen, superintendents, self-perform crews, subcontractors, utilities, agencies, inspectors, customers, and affected residents.
• Own project budgets, cost tracking, forecasts, cost-to-complete projections, subcontractor invoices, change orders, and customer progress billing.
• Coordinate fiber placement, splicing, testing, punch lists, as-builts, restoration acceptance, safety compliance, and final turnover.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of construction project management experience in fiber, telecommunications, underground utilities, or comparable civil infrastructure, including successful FTTH project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience managing microtrenching, directional boring, and aerial OSP construction, including production constraints, safety risks, quality checks, and restoration requirements.
• Experience with a general contractor or utility construction contractor, managing self-perform crews and subcontractors, budgets, change orders, and customer billing.
• Ability to read construction drawings, permit conditions, unit-price schedules, and contract scopes.
• Strong Excel and scheduling or construction management software skills.
• Working knowledge of Southern California right-of-way and encroachment permitting, utility coordination, Cal/OSHA, pole-owner requirements, and CPUC GO 95 and GO 128.
• Ability to travel regularly to assigned sites and work occasional evenings or weekends when permitted construction windows require it.
• Valid driver's license for required business driving.

• OSHA 30 training.
• PMP certification.
• Experience with Procore, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, GIS, or similar tools.
• A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent field and project management experience is also accepted.
