Senior Principal Data Analyst (Insurance)

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data models, analytical solutions, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, statistical analysis, data mining, forecasting, and research to support underwriting, claims, marketing, advertising, and product management.
• Oversee data sources, governance, documentation, reconciliation, quality monitoring, and adoption of new data sources and technologies.
• Automate recurring reports, scorecards, dashboards, and analytical processes while improving scalability, efficiency, and data quality.
• Lead cross-functional analytical projects from concept through implementation and coordinate with technology teams on requirements, testing, and production deployment.
• Present recommendations to leadership, mentor junior analysts, review work products, and deliver training on analytical methods and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
• At least 9 years of analytical experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 7 years with a master’s degree.
• Experience leading complex analytical projects and cross-functional initiatives, with knowledge of project management, process improvement, and operational analytics.
• Advanced SQL/SAS SQL proficiency, experience with cloud-based data platforms and databases, and strong proficiency in R.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charts, data visualization, complex formulas, and analysis.
• Experience creating analytical reports, dashboards, and data models, and applying statistical, mathematical, and data mining techniques to business problems.
• Understanding of insurance products, rating methodologies, insurance principles, and functions such as claims, underwriting, marketing, agency operations, or pricing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, learn complex concepts, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

• Experience in insurance, financial services, or other highly data-driven environments.
• Experience with business functions such as claims, underwriting, marketing, product management, or pricing.
• Python programming experience.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and visualization tools.
• Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics.
• Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
