Aircraft Engineering Manager (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead engineering decisions and support STC development and aircraft installation design.
• Manage engineering team resources, assign work, and track delivery against project requirements.
• Develop detailed aircraft equipment installations and modifications, including parts, assemblies, drawings, instructions, parts lists, and aircraft manual supplements.
• Prepare, review, and approve design, substantiation, and compliance documentation for customer, company, and regulatory requirements.
• Resolve manufacturing and installation problems, support aircraft surveys, design reviews, modifications, testing, and occasional travel.
• Establish and maintain QA and engineering processes while developing engineers and continuous improvement practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent or related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in avionics, structures, or aviation engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of aircraft design methodologies and standard practices.
• Extensive knowledge of the STC process and experience working with an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER).
• Experience with FAR and/or CS rules and regulations.
• Working knowledge and experience using 3D CAD; SolidWorks is preferred.
• Working knowledge and experience using 2D CAD; AutoCAD is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comfort working with aggressive deadlines, creating alternative solutions, and operating with minimal direction.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, along with strong organization, collaboration, initiative, and feedback skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Design Engineer and Compliance Verification Engineer roles and responsibilities under EASA DOA.
• Knowledge of P21J procedures.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
