Electrical Engineer (PCB/Embedded Systems)

Location: Calgary, AB, Canada; office-based role with up to 10% international travel.

What you will do

• Design and develop electronics for new products from initial concept through mass production, including technical specifications, schematics, PCB layouts, test plans, coverage, and design documentation.
• Design and implement circuit- and PCB-level systems, including analog, digital, and power circuitry.
• Perform design qualification and verification to meet quality, reliability, EMC, and global regulatory requirements.
• Plan project scope, estimates, dates, and EE deliverables in collaboration with Project Managers.
• Work cross-functionally to negotiate design trade-offs and use AI tools to accelerate data analysis and problem solving.
• Handle customer escalations, field troubleshooting, and third-party supplier design verification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
• At least 3 years of relevant electronics design experience with a proven record of successful product delivery.
• Experience with embedded computing systems, computing architecture, and interfaces.
• Independent experience with schematic and PCB layout activities, as well as PCB CAD design packages; Altium Designer is preferred.
• Solid understanding of Design for Manufacture and EMC mitigation methods.
• Ability to operate a wide range of electronic test equipment.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, organizational, prioritization, independent-working, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to evaluate the long-term implications and consequences of potential solutions and contribute to project decisions.
• Ability to travel internationally, with a valid passport and required travel documents.
