Technical Program Manager – Mechanical Engineering (Automotive)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; hybrid work arrangement with four days per week in the office.

What you will do

• Drive complex engineering challenges to resolution and keep automotive hardware development programs on track through Start of Production and beyond.
• Coordinate requirements, scope, risks, budgets, deliverables, and status across engineering, supply chain, finance, strategy, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Support the full product development lifecycle from concept and design through validation, integration, industrialization, and production launch.
• Identify issues during design reviews, virtual builds, and physical build events, then coordinate corrective actions to protect schedules and product quality.
• Prepare and facilitate decision-making meetings, resolve bottlenecks, mitigate risks, and implement improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate parts availability and build events with supply chain teams and suppliers while improving engineering processes, tools, and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in technical program management, project engineering, or a similar role supporting hardware development; relevant internship or co-op experience is also considered.
• Solid understanding of the product development lifecycle, including design, development, validation, integration, and launch.
• Familiarity with materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies used in automotive interiors or seating.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across teams and timelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience or knowledge of program management and project management principles.
• Background in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive seating, vehicle interiors, or electric vehicle systems.
• Familiarity with AIAG Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Experience with performance testing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management and collaboration tools.
• Experience working in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
• Systems-oriented thinking, technical curiosity, commitment to execution and continuous improvement, and interest in automotive innovation and customer-focused products.
• Master’s degree.
