Software Development Engineer II (Java/Azure)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid — 60% of the week at office locations or local sites and the rest remotely.

What you will do

• Develop and operate highly scalable solutions for securing and managing customer profile data, including contact details, preferences, and consent settings.
• Deliver medium to large features and provide technical leadership while supporting the development of other engineers.
• Build robust, scalable, efficient, reliable, maintainable, and high-performance systems using Java and cloud technologies.
• Implement CI/CD practices, automate workflows, and build tools and scripts to improve delivery efficiency.
• Apply security-first architectural standards, vulnerability management, and secure coding practices using tools such as Snyk and Apiiro.
• Maintain technical documentation, use data-driven decision-making, and mentor fellow engineers.

Requirements

• Experience delivering software in Java or another JVM language.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Terraform for infrastructure automation, or willingness to learn these technologies.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience with SQL, including PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB or CouchDB.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, xMatters, or New Relic.
• Experience with GitHub, Zendesk, and JIRA.
• Ability to apply security-first thinking, architectural standards, software quality practices, and data-driven decision-making.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.
