Manufacturing Engineer (Mid-Level, or Senior)

Location: Wichita, Kansas, United States; on-site.

Salary: $85,600–$131,200 for Mid-Level (Level 3); $105,400–$161,600 for Senior (Level 4).

Designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components, using composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

What you will do

• Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply teams to develop and guide program manufacturing and tooling plans.
• Identify and implement advanced manufacturing technologies and improve manufacturing processes supporting type design.
• Apply process engineering principles and establish requirements for assembly, tooling simulations, and manufacturing configurations.
• Perform trade and cost studies and assist in leading integrated product and process teams.
• Work across composite non-metallic, electrical/electronics, machining, sheet metal, systems, or structures manufacturing areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 5+ years of related engineering experience.
• Experience managing projects within a manufacturing production environment.
• Experience designing manufacturing processes and selecting tooling and components to meet product specifications and production goals.
• Experience leading cross-functional problem-solving efforts and providing daily production engineering support for efficient operations.

Nice to have

• For Senior Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Industrial, Quality, Civil/Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience implementing automation applications in industrial settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with customers and suppliers.
• Knowledge of engineering systems and the Continuous Improvement Toolset, including Seven Wastes.
• Detailed knowledge of 2D and 3D design methods and excellent drawing and design interpretation skills.
• Experience creating and maintaining production control documents.
• Strong understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing techniques and treatment processes.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, CATIA, and SAP.
