Manager, Data Migration

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta.

Salary: $90,000–$125,000 USD base salary annually.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop Data Migration Engineers through one-to-ones, goal setting, performance reviews, and performance improvement processes.
• Own team performance, project results, workload metrics, quality dashboards, costs, timesheets, compensation, and weekend coverage.
• Provide technical guidance on data migration approaches, script reviews, scope reviews, troubleshooting, development tickets, and post-activation scripts.
• Monitor projects, identify risks, manage escalations, adapt priorities and plans, and support live merges and go/no-go decisions during weekend coverage.
• Coordinate schedules, resources, handoffs, and issue resolution with Onboarding and Success Services, Development, Operations, Solution Services, Support, cloud, and engineering teams across regions and time zones.
• Improve Data Services policies, documentation, tooling, migration quality, scalability, and speed, including adoption of cloud-based platforms such as BigQuery and intelligent tools.

Requirements

• Experience leading or mentoring technical teams, including coaching, goal setting, and handling performance conversations.
• Strong working knowledge of database structures and SQL, with sufficient depth to review scripts and guide engineers through complex migration, integration, or transformation work.
• Solid understanding of ETL concepts, data mapping, and data quality best practices.
• Hands-on experience with SaaS data migration or ETL initiatives in a production environment.
• Ability to manage competing project timelines, adjust plans quickly, and keep customers and quality central.
• Comfort leading in a collaborative, global environment where work moves across regions and time zones.
• Clear communication skills, including explaining technical topics, presenting to peers and stakeholders, and gaining cooperation across teams and with customers during escalations.
• Sound judgment and ability to make decisions within established policies and business plans while remaining calm when priorities change.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience or exposure to Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery and Cloud Storage.
• Experience introducing automation, scripting, or AI-assisted tools for data analysis, migration, or quality assurance.
• Experience with insurance technology or agency management systems.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Slack, or similar tools for work tracking, collaboration, and documentation.
• Experience with HR and workforce tools such as UKG for timekeeping and performance management.
