Expert Backend Engineer (TypeScript + Node.js)

Location: Gdańsk, Poland — hybrid, with regular in-studio collaboration in Gdańsk, Wrzeszcz.

Salary: 200–230 PLN/hour + VAT on B2B, or 24,500–28,200 PLN gross on UoP.

What you will do

• Build and evolve a next-generation passwordless authentication platform used by millions worldwide.
• Develop backend solutions using TypeScript and Node.js, with some React work when needed.
• Shape technical decisions, architecture, best practices, and end-to-end solutions for complex challenges.
• Work with advanced biometrics to secure digital identities and enable seamless access.
• Use AI tools for coding, testing, documentation, and collaboration while critically evaluating their output.
• Define backend testing strategies and drive improvements in product quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building digital products as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
• Deep knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript, including the ability to guide technical decisions and best practices.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Node.js.
• Experience working across the stack, shaping solutions, and taking end-to-end ownership of complex technical challenges.
• Experience using AI tools across coding, testing, documentation, and team collaboration, with the ability to critically evaluate their output and guide adoption.
• In-depth understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, performance optimization, and technology selection.
• Deep understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, and modern web communication patterns, with the ability to make informed architectural decisions.
• Extensive experience with backend testing approaches and tools.
• Very good communication skills in English and Polish, including explaining complex technical concepts and aligning stakeholders on technical decisions.
