TL;DR
Hydrodynamics Analysis Engineer – Uncrewed Surface Vessel (Marine Operations): Developing hydrodynamic models and analysing a purpose-built USV for wave energy converter installation with an accent on vessel behaviour, seakeeping, stability, and offshore operability. Focus on OrcaFlex simulations, installation and retrieval analyses, weather-window planning, and validating designs through offshore operations.
Location: Hägersten, Stockholm, Sweden; marine operations and offshore work may be required.
Company
hirify.global develops wave-energy technology and systems for the global transition to renewable energy.
What you will do
Develop hydrodynamic models of the purpose-built uncrewed surface vessel for wave energy converter installation and assess design concepts and changes.
Analyse vessel motions, seakeeping, stability, operability, hydrodynamic loads, and motion responses to support design decisions and optimisation.
Perform installation, retrieval, and marine-operation analyses for wave energy converters, mooring systems, dynamic cables, lifting equipment, and deployment tools.
Use OrcaFlex and related simulation tools to evaluate installation feasibility and operational scenarios.
Support offshore-operation planning and execution, including installation procedures, risk assessments, method statements, lifting operations, and weather-window analysis.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and marine teams; participate in offshore operations and pilot installations to validate analyses and improve methodologies.
Requirements
Degree in Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field.
2–5 years of experience in marine operations or offshore installation analysis, ideally in offshore renewables, oil and gas, or marine engineering.
Proven experience with OrcaFlex for dynamic analysis of installation and operational scenarios.
Understanding of naval architecture principles, including hydrostatics, stability, seakeeping, and hull–equipment interaction.
Experience with diffraction/radiation tools such as Ansys Aqwa or WAMIT, or with vessel design tools.
Knowledge of moorings, dynamic cables, lifting equipment, and deployment tools.
Familiarity with offshore operations planning, vessel capabilities, and marine standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with attention to detail.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
