What you will do

• Design, code, test, and deploy features and defect fixes in two-week sprints.
• Build REST APIs and integrations with VA enterprise services, including ESB, HL7, FHIR, and VALIP.
• Write unit and integration tests and maintain passing SonarQube and Fortify scans in CI/CD.
• Refactor legacy applications for VAEC and container hosting.
• Deliver Tier 3 fixes, defect corrections, and security remediation.
• Apply secure coding practices under VA Handbook 6500 and Section 508 accessibility standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-stack development using Java, .NET, Python, React, Angular, or Node.js; the role is classified as Mid / Level II / Journeyman.
• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with REST APIs, unit testing, and CI/CD using GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or SonarQube.
• Experience with secure coding aligned with RMF and VA Handbook 6500.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or 4 additional years of experience as a substitute for well-qualified candidates.
• Must be able to obtain a Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Public Trust and a VA PIV credential.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of ServiceNow development for the ServiceNow/Nuvolo track.
• 3+ years of IBM Maximo configuration and integration for the Maximo track.
• Experience with HL7, FHIR, ESB, or VALIP integration; VAEC on AWS or Azure; and containers.
• Section 508 accessible UI development.
• AWS Developer or Solutions Architect, Azure Developer or DevOps Engineer, or SAFe Practitioner certification.
• For the ServiceNow track: CSA and CAD certifications.
• Red Hat Cloud-Native Applications certification for VALIP.
