Principal Software Engineer (Go/AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Chennai, India or London, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Shape the technical direction and roadmap of Unify Release Orchestration, sequencing delivery of customer value every few weeks.
• Assess the existing architecture, identify risks, and determine which ideas from CDRO Classic should carry forward.
• Remain hands-on with complex cross-team backend and architecture problems while collaborating with engineers and the product manager.
• Provide design and code reviews, document architectural decisions, improve onboarding and tooling, and help other teams contribute safely.
• Engage with CDRO Classic customers and bring their technical priorities into Unify RO decisions.
• Drive internal adoption of RO pipelines, progressive delivery, and feature flagging alongside Unify FM.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience with principal or staff+ scope, including measurable improvement of complex live systems and involvement in sequencing and trade-off decisions.
• Leadership through influence and technical credibility rather than formal authority, including building agreement through evidence and strong but adaptable opinions.
• Comfort discussing technical trade-offs directly with customers.
• Hands-on backend experience building and operating microservices on AWS, ideally in Go; comparable backend-language experience with willingness to deepen Go is also acceptable.
• Strong distributed-systems knowledge, including concurrency, event-driven architectures, message buses, and production failure modes.
• Hands-on use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar, with practical understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.
• A sense of humor.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD systems, workflow or pipeline engines, or developer platforms.
• Experience with progressive delivery or feature flagging.
• Java experience.
