Risk & Controls Manager, Actuarial Modelling & Valuations

Location: Stirling, United Kingdom. Other location: Edinburgh. Flexible working arrangements may be considered.

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate Risk and Controls activities across Actuarial Modelling & Valuations, including priorities, ownership and dependencies.
• Lead or support regulatory, audit and governance commitments, including complex or emerging matters, remediation plans and sustainable resolution.
• Maintain and enhance proportionate frameworks, policies, standards and governance arrangements.
• Coordinate and constructively challenge Risk & Control Self-Assessments, Key Control Assessments, issues, events and remediation plans, including closure evidence.
• Oversee policy compliance, attestations, inventory management, risk appetite monitoring and reporting, including periodic quality reviews.
• Partner with Financial Controls, Model Validation, Risk functions, Internal and External Audit and other reviewers; lead the Risk Champion network and improve processes through coaching and knowledge-sharing.

Requirements

• Practical experience in Risk Management, Controls, Governance, Model Risk, Audit or a related discipline within regulated financial services, including RCSAs, control assessment, issue management and remediation.
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams and senior stakeholders, supporting teams in operating and evidencing controls while providing influence and constructive challenge.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including explaining complex matters clearly to senior and committee audiences and engaging with reviewing teams.
• Risk-based decision-making skills, including assessing risk nature and materiality, determining proportionate responses, and explaining and evidencing decisions.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies and deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Experience developing capability through coaching, training, guidance or people leadership.
