Principal Software Engineer (AI/Java)

Location: Prague, Czech Republic; hybrid work from hirify.global's Prague office is required. Remote work is possible only when the employee is located in the Czech Republic, and candidates must be eligible to work in CZ.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and strategic product initiatives while remaining hands-on in software development.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, high-performance enterprise software, including Java applications, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native platforms.
• Develop AI-powered capabilities and promote AI-assisted engineering practices, evaluating LLMs, AI agents, RAG, and agentic development workflows.
• Lead complex features and services from concept through deployment, troubleshoot critical production issues, and improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Drive platform modernization, automation, continuous improvement, and engineering standards across global teams.
• Mentor senior engineers and emerging technical leaders, collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, DevOps, and executive stakeholders, and translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions.

Requirements

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering enterprise-scale applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java, distributed systems, and modern enterprise software development.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, cloud-native applications, and enterprise architecture.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools in production engineering workflows and building AI-powered software capabilities or developer productivity solutions.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or comparable AI technologies.
• Deep understanding of AWS or Azure, including cloud architecture and AI integration capabilities.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevSecOps, Kubernetes, containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience developing enterprise SaaS applications; Salesforce ecosystem experience is preferred.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills, experience resolving complex production challenges, mentoring senior engineers, and influencing technical direction across teams.
• Contributions to open source projects, technical publications, patents, or other evidence of technical leadership.
• Excellent English communication skills and experience collaborating across international engineering teams.
• Ability to work regularly from hirify.global's Prague office under a hybrid working arrangement and eligibility to work in the Czech Republic.
