Mechatronics Engineer Intern (Autonomous Underwater Robotics)

Location: Singapore; full-time internship commitment required

What you will do

• Support the development of autonomous underwater vehicles under the guidance of the Hardware Technical Lead.
• Assist with mechanical component, mechanism, and electronic enclosure design using CAD software.
• Support prototyping, fabrication, assembly, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and product verification.
• Participate in laboratory, workshop, field, and applicable sea-trial testing.
• Support embedded firmware development, sensor integration, actuator testing, and hardware bring-up.
• Prepare engineering drawings, technical documentation, and test reports while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve performance and manufacturability.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Ability to commit to a full-time internship in Singapore.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with prototyping methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, or similar.
• Basic understanding of embedded systems, sensors, actuators, or microcontrollers.
• Exposure to C/C++, Arduino, STM32, or ARM-based development.
• Basic knowledge of Python.
• Familiarity with PCB design, wire harnessing, or electronics assembly.
• Understanding of engineering testing and validation methodologies.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control tools.
