Software Engineer, Backend (Python)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid pattern with 3 days a week in the office

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and improve backend services for customer-facing restaurant and guest features.
• Own features end to end from technical design through launch and ongoing production support, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Solve data, latency, and scale challenges involving unified guest identity, real-time availability search across thousands of venues, and restaurant-system integrations.
• Build features on DoorDash’s global platform for restaurants across DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt markets.
• Work with frequent daily releases, feature flags, and AI coding agents across code review, deployment, and debugging.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers across London and other DashOS locations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and operating backend services or web applications in production.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Fluency in at least one modern backend programming language and willingness to learn new languages and tools.
• Ownership of technical solutions from initial design through production.
• Ability to use or willingness to adopt AI coding tools, including reviewing and taking responsibility for their output.
• Enjoyment of cross-functional collaboration to solve ambiguous technical and product problems.
